Box Score 2 APPLETON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's volleyball team went 1-1 in its two matches Saturday, defeating Knox College (Ill.) 3-0 and losing to Lawrence University (Wis.) 3-0 at the Alexander Gymnasium.
In the first match of the day, the Blugolds defeated Knox College in straight sets with scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-12. The team was led by Rachel Ver Voort (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Middleton), who recorded 11 kills in the match. Emily Neave (Fr.-Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) collected a match-high 21 assists and 12 digs, while Blair Murphy (Jr.-Hermantown, Minn.) added 11 digs.
Eau Claire met up with Lawrence University in the second match, falling to the Vikings in a very competitive match, 29-31, 19-25 and 20-25. Kristen Moore (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon) and Danielle Lucia (Jr.-St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo) both finished with nine kills in the match, while Murphy and Stephanie Peterson (Jr.-Duluth, Minn./East) pitched in eight apiece. Murphy and Ver Voort also added 13 digs each. Amanda Lessner (Jr.-Watertown, Wis.) recorded 15 assists, while Neave added 19 in the match.
The 14th-ranked Blugolds (15-4, 1-2 WIAC) will take on UW-River Falls Wednesday, Oct. 7 at the McPhee Physical Education Center in Eau Claire. The event is Youth Night and the team's Dig for the Cure match. It is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
