LAKE WISSOTA, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Racing in the final regular season meet for 2009, the UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team took first at its own Lake Wissota Meet today.
The Blugolds had the top six finishers and scored 15 points while UW-River Falls finished with 49 to take second. UW-Stout also had four runners at the meet. A total of 27 runners competed today in two inches of wet, heavy snow.
Adam Flyte (Jr.-Fort Atkinson, Wis.) led the Blugolds and the rest of the participants with a time of 27:45 on the 8K course.
Aaron Easker (Fr.-Eland, Wis./Wittenberg-Birnamwood ) was right behind with a time of 27:46 in second place while Charlie Daehler (Jr.-Milwaukee, Wis./Whitefish Bay) was third with a time of 28:25.
Jay Birkholz (So.-Wausau, Wis./East), Kyle Kopidlansky (Sr.-Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) and Mike Blank (So.-New Berlin, Wis./West) were the next finishers for Eau Claire, in fourth, fifth and sixth place.
Next Saturday the Blugolds will travel to the WIAC Championship in Whitewater. Action will get underway at 1 p.m.
