WHITEWATER, Wis. - With five runners finishing in the top 10 at the UW-Whitewater Invitational, the UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team took first place out of 10 teams today.
Chris Wirtz (Jr.-Weston, Wis./DC Everest) paced the field taking the top spot overall. He finished with a time of 27:42, 18 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Finishing second for the Blugolds and fifth place overall was Jules Miller (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./East) with a time of 28:20. Brent Kann (Jr.-Rice Lake, Wis.), Andy Warren (Sr.-Kenosha, Wis./Bradford) and Tom Breitbach (So.-Muskego, Wis.) finished seventh, eighth and ninth with times of 28:36, 28:37 and 28:39, respectively.
The Blugolds will have next weekend off and will then head to St. Paul, Minn. for the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invite on September 27.
