NORTHFIELD, Minn. - With 379 points, the UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team took 16th out of 27 schools at the St. Olaf invite in Northfield, Minn.
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse took first with 83 points and one top five runner. The runner-up University of Wisconsin-Platteville squad collected 105 points as third-place Iowa Central Community College ran for 108. While the University of Stevens Point (122) and Allegheny University (132) rounded out the top five.
Out of 352 runners, Iowa Central's Joshua Sawe (Fr.) took first with a time of 25:17.
The top Blugold finish belonged to Chris Wirtz (So.-Weston,WI/DC Everest), who was 76th with a time of 27:18. Kevin Hall (Jr.-Green Bay/Preble) followed him at 77th and 27:19. Andy Warren (Jr.-Kenosha,WI/Bradford) ran a 27:26 to take 85th.
Coming in at 90th, James Marsh (So.-Madison, WI/West) clocked a 27:36 race. The last point-gainer for the group was Tony Carr (Jr.-Menomonie, WI) with a 28:02 time putting him in 1191th.
Next up on the schedule for Eau Claire is the Blugold Invite at Colfax. It starts at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 21.
