CHICAGO - The sixth-ranked UW-Eau Claire volleyball team finished unbeaten at the Gargoyle Classic today as it defeated both Illinois College and Lake Forest College (IL) in three games.

The Blugolds were the only undefeated team at the Gargoyle Classic and now have an overall record of 11-1.

The Blugolds were uncontested in their first match of the day against Illinois College winning 30-21, 30-18, 30-18. Jodi Dunbar (Sr.-Platteville, WI) led UWEC in kills with 17. Jessica Groh (Sr.-Eau Claire, WI/North) was second on the team with 10 kills.

Carly Freiberg (Sr.-Sacred Heart, MN/Renville County West) had 38 assists to lead the Blugolds. Shanna Berger (Sr.-Baldwin/Baldwin-Woodville) led the team with four service aces and 15 digs.

The Blugolds are now 2-0 all-time against Illinois College.

The Blugolds also swept their second match against Lake Forest College (IL) winning 30-27, 30-22, 30-17. Jodi Dunbar led the team in kills with 15. Ashley Danielson (Sr.-Cadott, WI) was second on the team with nine kills. Dunbar led the team in kills in all four matches at the Classic. Carly Freiberg had 32 assists and four service aces to lead the Blugolds.

The Blugolds are also now 2-0 all-time against Lake Forest. The All-Tournament team will be announced tomorrow.

Next, the Blugolds will host UW-Oshkosh in the conference opener on Friday night at the McPhee Physical Education Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
