Box Score EAU CLAIRE - The fifth-ranked UW-Eau Claire volleyball team bounced back from its loss last night by sweeping UW-Stevens Point 3-0 this afternoon in the McPhee Physical Education center.
The Blugolds improve to 19-2 overall this season and 4-1 in conference matches. The Pointers drop to an overall record of 19-8 and a conference record of 3-2.
With both teams tied for the best record in the conference, the Blugolds swept the Pointers, winning 30-22, 30-21, 30-23.
In the first game, the Blugolds had 16 kills and a .205 attack percentage on its way to winning 30-22.
The Blugolds had their best game of the match in the second game as they won 30-21. The Blugolds had 22 kills and just three errors. The Blugolds had a .422 attack percentage in the game.
The Blugolds closed the match out in the third game, winning 30-23. The Blugolds had 20 kills in the third game, while the Pointers had just seven.
The Blugolds had 58 kills for the match and Stevens Point had just a total of 27 kills.
Jessica Groh (Sr.-Eau Claire, WI/North) led the Blugolds with 19 kills and had a .500 attack percentage. Jodi Dunbar (Sr.-Platteville, WI) and Abby Freiberg (So.-Sacred Heart, MN/Renville County West) had 10 kills apiece. Abby Freiberg and Jessica Groh also led the Blugolds with three service aces apiece.
Carly Freiberg (Sr.-Sacred Heart, MN/Renville County West) had 44 assists and led the team with three blocks. Shanna Berger (Sr.-Baldwin/Baldwin-Woodville) had 17 digs and Emily Haase (So.-Mishicot, WI) had 15 digs in the victory.
The Blugolds lead the all-time series 41-26 and have won the last 14 meetings.
Next, the Blugolds travel to face UW-Superior on Wednesday night. Action is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
