WEST SALEM - The UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team finished sixth out of nine teams with 180 points at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships hosted by UW-La Crosse here today at Maple Grove Country Club.
The Blugolds improved from an eighth-place finish last season scoring 223 points to this year's sixth place showing at 180 points.
UW-La Crosse won its third consecutive WIAC title with a score of 35 points followed by UW-Oshkosh with 58 points, UW-Platteville with 76 point, UW-Stevens Point with 90 points and UW-Whitewater rounding out the top five with 126 points.
Individually Kevin Hall (So.-Green Bay/Preble) was the top finisher for the Blugolds placing 25th in a time of 26:41. Jules Miller (Jr.-Green Bay/East) finished 32nd in 26:56 followed by Ted Lillie (Sr.-North St. Paul, MN) in 34th place just two seconds behind Lillie in 26:58. Rounding out the Blugold point scorers was Adam Wolfe (Jr.-Marshfield) finishing 43rd in 27:29 and Chris Wirtz (Fr.-Weston/D.C. Everest) placing 46th with a time of 27:35.
The Blugolds will next compete at the NCAA Regional hosted by Augustana (IL) on November 11. Race time is set for 12:00 P.M.
