STEVENS POINT - The UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team had no such luck against UW-Stevens Point tonight losing 90-66.

With the loss the Blugolds fall to 8-6 overall and 1-5 in conference play. The victory gives the Pointers an 11-4 record overall and a 6-1 conference record.

The Pointers started the game on fire hitting 16 of their first 20 shots and seven of their first eight three-pointers. The Pointers opened up an 8-2 lead and never trailed in the game. With the score 42-23 with 4:06 to play in the first half, the Pointers would close out the half outscoring the Blugolds 15-6 as the Pointers went into halftime with a 47-29 lead.

The Pointers shot and astounding 70.8% in the first half, while the Blugolds shot about half that at 37%. The Pointers also out-rebounded the Blugolds 16-10 in the half.

The second half was the same story as the Pointers used a 12-1 run to extend the lead to 30, the biggest of the ball game, with 13:07 to play. The Blugolds cut into that lead a little bit, but it wasn't close as the Pointers went onto win 90-66.

The Pointers cooled off in the second half as they ended up shooting 62.7% for the game. The Blugolds shot 37.7% for the game, but shot well from the free throw line going 17-for-23.

Jared Bardon (So.-DeForest, WI) led the Blugolds in scoring with 14 points. Dan Beyer (So.-Waukesha, WI/Catholic Memorial) added 13 points and Dan Ottney (So.-Glenwood City, WI) had 10. Matt Riley (Jr.-Cadott, WI) led the Blugolds in rebounds with nine. The Pointers' Brian Bauer led all scorers with 21 points.

Up next the Blugolds will travel to play UW-Platteville on Saturday as part of a men's and women's doubleheader. The men's game will take place at approximately 7 p.m. following the women's game.
