Box Score EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire volleyball team claimed another win as it defeated UW-Platteville in four sets with finals of 19-30, 30-28, 30-17, and 30-26.
Eau Claire hit only .049 in the first set, but came back and improved with a .205 second game, a .333 third set, and a .378 finale. Meanwhile, the Pointers were held to under .225 for every set.
The kills leader was Molly Menard (Sr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) with 19, while Carly Freiborg (Jr.-Sacred Heart, MN/Renville County West) had 47 assists for the Blugolds. The defense came up big tonight with 15 total team blocks. Jessica Groh (Jr.-Eau Claire/North) tallied the most block assists with 9, but Freiborg was close behind with eight. The most digs belonged to Shanna Berger (Jr.-Baldwin/Baldwin-Woodville) as she totaled 17 of them.
Eau Claire is now 16-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference.
The next matchup for the Blugolds is at home against UW-La Crosse tomorrow at the McPhee Physical Education Building. A 2:00 p.m. start time is scheduled.
