Volleyball Cruises Past St. Scholastica

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire volleyball team posted a team kill percentage of .373 in a dominant 3-0 win over St. Scholastica here tonight at the McPhee Physical Education Center.

The Blugolds improve to 18-8 on the season while the Saints fall to 15-11 overall. Eau Claire has now won 14 straight matches over St. Scholastica and 15 of the last 16.

Jen Wolter (Jr.-Osceola) led the way for the Blugolds, totaling 17 kills while committing just one error for a .640 kill percentage. She leads Eau Claire with a .358 kill percentage on the season. Wolter also tallied three block assists in the victory.

Molly Menard (Jr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) also tallied double-digit kills on the night, recording 12 kills and just one error for a .611 kill percentage. Menard added four digs and four total blocks on the evening while Becca Carstensen (Sr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) added nine kills, four service aces and two block assists in the Blugold win.

Carly Freiborg (So.-Sacred Heart, MN/Renville County West) tallied 41 set assist on the night and also had seven digs in the back row.

The Blugolds will head to River Falls this weekend for the UW-River Falls Tournament beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The tourney will be the last tune up for the Blugolds before the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference quarterfinals next Tuesday.
