WEST SALEM - The UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team took 11th place out of 21 teams at the Jim Drews Invite held here today.
Paul Zdroik (Fr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) was the top Blugold finisher. Zdroik finished in 26:25.3 taking 54th. Ben Schmiege (Sr.-Madison/Lakeside Lutheran) finished in 26:48.2 with Ethan Kreul (Jr.-Poynette) finishing a second later.
Adam Condit (Sr.-La Crosse/Central), Micah Hernandez (Sr.-Milwaukee/Wisconsin Lutheran), Ted Lillie (So.-North St. Paul, MN) and Adam Zamzow (Fr.-Green Bay/Preble) all finished within a minute of Kreul.
The top of the leaderboard consisted of three Division I schools. UW-Wisconsin finished first followed by the University of Minnesota and Iowa State. Adam Carlson of Minnesota took first overall with a time of 24:12.0.
The Blugolds will be in action next when they host a dual with UW-Stout Friday. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. in Lake Wissota.
