KENOSHA - The UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team finished in sixth place out of 27 complete teams in its first meet of the season here today at the 2003 UW-Parkside Midwest Collegiate Cross Country Meet.

KENOSHA - The UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team finished in sixth place out of 27 complete teams in its first meet of the season here today at the 2003 UW-Parkside Midwest Collegiate Cross Country Meet.

North Central College took first place followed closely by Wayne State University. Three WIAC schools finished in the top six, with Oshkosh and La Crosse finishing fourth and fifth.

Micah Hernandez (Jr.-Milwaukee/Wisconsin Lutheran) was the top Blugold finisher, placing 27th overall with a time of 26:08. Zach Severson (So.-Sun Prairie) finished just one place and one second behind Hernandez.

Adam Condit (Jr.-La Crosse/Central) took third on the Blugold team, finishing in 34th place with a time of 26:13 followed by both Ben Schmiege (Jr.-Madison/Lakeside Lutheran) and Matt Goertz (Sr.-Manitowoc/Lincoln) who each finished in 26:20.

The Blugolds will be in action next weekend at the Roy Griak Invite at the University of Minnesota.
