Chase Schmidt enters his third year as an assistant coach for Blugold wrestling in 2024-25.
Schmidt helped the Blugolds place fifth at the NCAA Championships and win their first-ever Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team championship in 2023-24. He was part of a coaching staff which produced a national champion, four All-Americans and six national qualifiers. The Blugolds achieved their highest ever ranking in the National Wrestling Coaches Association rankings that season.
Schmidt wrestled for the Blugolds from 2017-2022. He was an All-American in his final season, placing third at 165 pounds at nationals. In doing so, he became the first Blugold to earn a third-place finish at the NCAAs since 2016. He also earned a spot on the All-WIAC second team in 2022 at 165 pounds.
Schmidt is from Rice Lake, Wisconsin, where he was a two-time WIAA state tournament qualifier for Rice Lake High School.
