Roger Steen enters his 12th season as an Assistant Throws Coach for the UW-Eau Claire men's and women's track and field teams in 2026-27. 

Steen has assisted in coaching national champions Gage Stankiewicz, Adam Strouf, Catie Fobbe, Yakob Ekoue, Alex Mess, David Kornack and Erica Oawster and 65 All-American titles while at Eau Claire. Steen graduated from UWEC in 2016 with a double major in Business Administration and Kinesiology.

Steen competed for the Blugolds from 2011-2015 in football and track and field where he was a two-time National Champion in the shot put. In addition, he was a 2016, 2021 and 2024 Olympic Trials qualifier and participant in the shot put. Steen represented the USA at the 2024 and 2025 Indoor World Championships in the shot put. He has a personal best in the shot put of 72’6.5” and currently ranks 9th in the IAAF world ranking.
