Why did you choose Eau Claire?
| I hadn't really looked into UWEC a whole lot, but once I toured, it felt right. It's the right size, great distance from home, it's beautiful, and I had only heard good things about UWEC. It also helped that I was able to meet with the cross country coach Dan and a few teammates which really made me feel like UWEC was the right fit and that I could feel at home here. |
Why do you choose to play Division III?
| Once I started running cross country, I knew I didn't want to stop. 6 years (7th-12th grade) just didn't feel like enough - I love the sport and the people so much and I knew I wanted to continue. I wasn't fast enough for most D1 schools and they were too big for what I wanted in a school, and there are few D2 schools in the Midwest. The competition of D3 schools is high, but there is still plenty of opportunity for enjoying other campus activities, and the coaches really emphasize that your well-being is most important, which can be hard to find. |
Who is your role model/mentor? Why are they important to you?
| My high school cross country coach, Billy Simon, is someone I have looked up to ever since I started running. The amount of passion he has for the sport, and the energy, enthusiasm, and motivation he brings to every practice and meet is truly contagious and inspiring. He has always believed in me even when I didn't, and he really drove my love for the sport and I am so grateful for him. |
What is your pregame meal?
| Turkey and cheese sandwich or bagel with cream cheese depending on the time |
