Brandon Fanning

Brandon Fanning begins his first year with Blugold women’s basketball as an assistant coach in 2026.

Fanning came to UW-Eau Claire after a decade of coaching Eau Claire Memorial Girl’s Basketball in the Chippewa Valley. With a career record of 202-105, Brandon and the Old Abes won two Big Rivers Conference (BRC) titles and finished in the top 3 of the conference in 9 of his 13 seasons. Brandon has coached one BRC Player of the Year, more than ten First Team All-Conference players, and multiple high school athletes who have gone on to play at the NCAA Division II and III levels, as well as more than five players who have played professionally — most notably the 2019 Division I Naismith Award winner, Megan Gustafson, who currently plays for the Portland Fire.

“Brandon is a tremendous addition to our program. He’s a competitor, a connector, and someone who has earned a great deal of respect throughout the city of Eau Claire and recruiting community,” Iverson said. “The relationships he’s built, combined with his energy and work ethic, make him an ideal fit for the culture we’re continuing to build. He understands that successful programs are built on trust, relationships, and daily investment in people, and that aligns perfectly with who we are.

In addition to his high school experience, Fanning spent 12 years with Team Wisconsin. During his time in the AAU circuit, more than 100 athletes went on to play at NCAA Division I, II, and III institutions. Of those athletes, five of them etched their name in Wisconsin High School basketball history as top 40 scorers.

Off the court, Brandon teaches Health and Physical Education at Memorial High School and graduated from UW-La Crosse with a bachelor’s degree in applied arts. Fanning resides in Eau Claire with his wife, Kyleigh, and their son, Ollie.
