Ken Cychosz enters his third year at the helm for UW-Eau Claire's women's tennis program during the 2024-25 season.
After serving as an assistant coach to both the women's and men's teams in 2021-22, Cychosz became the 12th Head Women's Tennis Coach in program history.
Under Cychosz's guidance, the Blugolds have competed near the top of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Blugolds earned their first national ranking since 2003 when they landed at No. 40 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's national rankings in late April of 2024. UW-Eau Claire placed second at the WIAC Championships in both 2022 and 2023. Cychosz's teams produced two WIAC titles in singles and one in doubles in that span.
Cychosz came to UW-Eau Claire from the University of St. Thomas (Minn.). During his four years at St. Thomas — two as head coach — he led the women to a 57-18 overall record. The 2020-21 team accumulated 14 straight victories, won the MIAC Title, and advanced to the round of 16 of the NCAA Division III tournament. They were ranked in the top 5 in the Central Region and ended up finishing ninth in Division III. In addition, two members of the team achieved All-America status. The men's team accumulated a record of 17-10 during the last two years and were ranked 16 in the Central Region and third in the MIAC. Between the two teams, 13 members achieved all-conference status in 2020-21.
Cychosz is in the Blugold Hall of Fame for his work as a student-athlete from 1979-82. He won the conference championship in 1982 at No. 1 singles and twice advanced to the fourth round in the NAIA national tournament. During his stint, Blugold teams won seven straight WIAC titles and 47 straight conference matches.
He is a long-time tennis enthusiast; Cychosz has received more than 40 Northern Section No. 1 rankings and several national team titles. His best individual finish was the round of 16 at the United States National Grass Courts in 2001.
He is married to Pam with two children, Sam and Jackie.
