In addition to competing, he also coached Valerie Depoulain - one of the Top 100 female players at the time - in the French circuit.
Biernat later returned to the United States and played in the Northwest USTA summer tournaments and during his career claimed the No. 1 ranking in the Northwest Open Doubles Division in 1981 with partner Mark Wheaton, No.1 singles ranking in 35’s in 1994 and No.1 in 45’s singles ranking in the SouthWestern Arizona section in 2004.

This will be my final season head coaching at UWEC; I am retiring to Florida in the fall. I am impressed with the support I have received from the Athletic Department to build this program up to one of the top D3 programs in the Midwest. This has been one of the best experiences in my life, and I appreciate the team, staff and councilors that helped us be healthy and competitive.
