MOORHEAD, Minn. — UW-Eau Claire won 4-0 at Concordia-Moorhead on a warm Friday afternoon, securing their first win on the 2026 campaign.The Blugolds scored all four goals in the first half, when they recorded 12 shots and held the Cobbers to one. UW-Eau Claire finished with a 15-5 advantage in shots and an 8-1 edge in shots on goal while holding the Cobbers scoreless.
UWEC opened with four shots in the first seven minutes, including saved attempts by
Mikalyn Hidde,
Johanna Thompson and
Emma Donovan, before Thompson finished Hidde's assist at 7:10 for a 1-0 lead. The Cobbers generated four corner kicks in the opening 10 minutes, but the Blugolds kept the home side from converting. The Blugolds added to the margin when Donovan scored from
Anna Lorenzana at 13:03 to make it 2-0.
Olivia Lukrafka Varassin scored off Donovan's assist at 19:32, and
Brynn Lauters followed from
Neave Rewa at 33:31, sending UW-Eau Claire into halftime ahead with a strong 4-0 advantage.
The Blugolds created the half's first extended attacking stretch from 46:12 through 56:01, getting two shots from
Megan Dwyer, one from
Lauren Putnam and three corner kicks. The Cobbers later put three attempts off target before
Maggie Smith made a save on Emma Sheflo's shot to the bottom left at 85:28. A strong defensive push kept the Cobbers out of the scoring column for the full 90 minutes.
Donovan finished with a goal and an assist for three points, adding three shots with two on goal. Thompson scored the game-winning goal and put all three of her shots on frame. Lauters scored on her lone shot attempt. Lukrafka Varassin added a goal on two shots. UWEC outshot Concordia-Moorhead 15-5 including 8-1 shots on goal advantage.
Bella Jones and Smith were perfect in the net with Smith recording one save in her 27 minutes of action.
The Blugolds move to 1-1 overall and the Cobbers fall to 1-1 overall.
