ST. PAUL, Minn. — UW-Eau Claire finished third out of 15 teams at the Minnesota Golf Classic, carding a three-round total of 802 (+10) at Pioneer Creek Golf Course. Spencer Lynch led the Blugolds individually, tying for 12th at 212 (-4).

The Blugolds opened with rounds of 296 (+8) and 289 (+1) before closing with a 217 (+1) on Monday. (RV) Bethel won the tournament at 2-under par, finishing 12 strokes ahead of UW-Eau Claire. The Blugolds' "B" team placed seventh at 886 (+22), improving throughout the tournament with rounds of 306 (+18), 299 (+11) and 281 (-7).

Lynch finished tied for 12th at 212 (-4) after rounds of 71 (-1), 70 (-2) and 71 (-1). Samuel Forslund carded a 71 (-1) in his round on Monday to close the tournament tied for 28th at 218 (+2). Michael Markley and Luke Taebel tied for 46th at 222 (+6). Markley closed with a 74 (+2), while Taebel carded a 73 (+1) in the final round. Karsen Kruse rounded out the Blugolds' lineup with a three-round total of 232 (+16).

For the Blugolds' "B" team, Johnathan Amtmann tied for 28th at 218 (+2), closing with a 69 (-3) on Monday. Amtmann recorded three birdies and an eagle in his final round. Bennett Madson tied for 45th at 221 (+5) after carding a 71 (-1) in the final round with four birdies. Cameron Stenzel tied for 55th at 224 (+8) and also closed with a 71 (-1).

The Blugolds return to action at the SJU Fall Invitational Saturday, Sept. 26, through Sunday, Sept. 27, in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The tournament will be played at St. Cloud Country Club and Blackberry Ridge.
