REEDSBURG, Wis. — UW-Eau Claire opened the WIAC Championship in third place Friday, carding a 314 (+26) in the opening round at Reedsburg Country Club. Grace Raich led the Blugolds with a 77 (+5), placing in a tie for fifth individually.
The Blugolds sit just behind UW-Whitewater, which carded a 308 (+20), and UW-Stout at 310 (+22) in the eight-team field. The championship is being contested on the par-72, 5,709-yard course at Reedsburg Country Club.
Raich led UW-Eau Claire with 12 pars and one birdie. Elizabeth Hermann and Karalyn Skinner each carded a 78 (+6) to sit tied for ninth. Skinner recorded three birdies, while Hermann added one. Lilly Kaminski sits tied for 15th after carding an 81 (+9), while Tally Schlindwein rounded out the Blugolds' lineup with an 84 (+12).
Competing as individuals, Bailey Eddicus and Emily Utter are tied for 22nd. Utter recorded four birdies across holes 5-9.
The Blugolds return to the course for the second round Saturday, Oct. 10, with a 9 a.m. tee time.
