NORTHFIELD, Minn. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team opened the 2025 season on Friday, kicking off a five-game road trip against the St. Olaf Oles. Looking to avenge a 2-1 defeat last year, the Blugolds' woes against the Oles continued with a 4-0 defeat away from home.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blugold defense was tested early as St. Olaf registered seven shots on goal in the first half. Bella Jones (Jr. – Neenah, Wis.) registered six saves in her first start since November of 2024.
- Despite a two-goal deficit at halftime, UW-Eau Claire found a groove and registered five shots in the second half. Haley Von Rentzell (Sr. – Chanhassen, Minn.) recorded the lone shot on goal for UWEC.
- The Oles added two more goals in the second half as Bella Jones played all 90 minutes and was assessed her first loss of the season.
