Blugolds Draw with Blue Devils in Back and Forth Tilt

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the University of Wisconsin-Stout played to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday at Simpson Field. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire took the lead in the second half before UW-Stout equalized late in the match. Both teams had multiple scoring opportunities, with UWEC outshooting the visitors 21-13.

The first half began with the Blugolds establishing their presence early on their home field. Sabrina Pickart and Olivia Lukrafka Varassin made notable contributions with shots, though they were unable to convert these opportunities into goals. Magnolia Millar Bruzek and Johanna Thompson also tested the UW-Stout goalkeeper, Kaitlyn Krengel, who managed to keep the ball out of the net.

Despite applying pressure, the Blugolds' attempts were met with a solid defensive stance from the visitors. As the first half closed, UWEC maintained a strong offensive push, but both teams entered halftime without a score, leaving the match level at 0-0.

The second half began with the Blugolds applying significant pressure, generating multiple corner kicks and shots early on. Taylor Bembnister had a close opportunity saved, but UW-Eau Claire maintained their offensive efforts. Mikalyn Hidde broke the deadlock in the 79th minute, securing a crucial goal for the Blugolds.

UW-Stout quickly responded with a goal by Anna Odisho in the 81st minute, leveling the match. Both teams continued to exchange chances in a tense final stretch, with Bella Jones making key saves to keep the game tied. The second half concluded with a 1-1 draw, reflecting a competitive back-and-forth contest.

Hidde scored the lone goal for the Blugolds, converting both of her shots on target. Jones, in goal, recorded two saves while facing 13 shots, conceding just once. Millar Bruzek led the team with four shots, putting one on goal. Thompson contributed to the attacking effort with two shots, one of which was on target.

UW-Eau Claire holds a record of 2-7-4 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play. UW-Stout stands at 6-4-3 overall with a conference record of 0-0-2.
