INDIANOLA, Iowa. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team on the road Saturday for a nonconference matchup with the Simpson College Storm. The Blugolds conceded the first two goals of the game but battled back with a goal in each half. Simpson College added the final blow in the second half to defeat Eau Claire 3-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hayley Von Rentzell (Jr. – Chanhassen, Minn.) led the Blugold attack with her first brace of the season. Von Rentzell's goals in the 28th and 89th minutes to cut the Simpson lead to one goal each time.
- Emma Donovan (Fr. – Hazel Green, Wis.) earned the lone assist on Hayley Von Rentzell's first goal of the afternoon.
- Two Simpson goals in the first 16 minutes of play saw the Blugolds with an early deficit. The high-flying Storm offense kept the Blugold defense busy all day with 12 shots on goal.
- Kennedy Boll (Sr. – Franklin, Wis.) stopped 9 of the 12 shots she faced in her fourth loss of the season. Boll is now 4-4-1 on the season.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Blugolds (4-4-1) will head back to Iowa on Wednesday, September 25
th for a matchup with Wartburg College. Kickoff from Salzwedel Field is scheduled for 6p.m.
