www.blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team started their spring schedule on Friday with day one of the IWU Invitational, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University. UW-Eau Claire's
Nick Amtmann (Jr. – Nashotah, Wis./Arrowhead) held the low Blugold score of the day as Amtmann finished at an even par 72 and finished tied for 6
th overall in round 1. The two Blugold teams concluded the 18-hole round with scores of 297 and 306 and found themselves tied for 3
rd and 10
th.
With an almost completely clean scorecard on the day,
Nick Amtmann recorded two birdies to offset his two bogies and finish at even par in round one.
Corey Boerner (Sr. – Bloomington, Minn./Bloomington Kennedy) and
Griffin Oberneder (So. – Beloit, Wis./Beloit Memorial) weren't far behind as the duo collected a pair of 74's and are tied for 14
th.
Nick Mueller (Fr – Baldwin, Wis./St. Croix Central) and
Ben Pausha () rounded out UWEC's first team as Mueller entered the clubhouse tied for 26
th and Pausha finished tied for 38
th. Eau Claire's top team tied for 3
rd after day one with 297 strokes.
The Blugolds' second team found consistency throughout the day as
Owen Covey (Jr. – New Richmond, Wis.) and
Fred Moede (Jr. – Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) both tallied 77's and tied for 53
rd.
Spencer Lynch (Fr. – Neenah, Wis./St. Mary Catholic) came in at a 78 to bring UWEC's second team to a 306-stroke total.
The Blugolds will be back on the links on Saturday, April 5 for round 2 of the IWU Invitational at the Ironwood Golf Course. Tee times are set to begin at 9 a.m.
