DECORAH, Iowa — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's cross country team took second place at the Luther Saga Cup on Friday afternoon. The Blugolds finished out their regular season with yet another top-three finish — their fourth of the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blugolds tallied 34 team points, finishing narrowly behind winner Wartburg, which had a meet-low 21.
- All five of the Blugolds' scorers finished in the top 10 individually. Jordan Chen (Fr. - Chippewa Falls, Wis.) paced the group, finishing fourth in 23:51.6.
- Leah Ottosen (Fr. - Wausau, Wis./Wausau East) was close behind Chen. She finished fifth in 23:55.6. Saige Peterson (Fr. - Amherst, Wis.) took sixth individually, crossing the line in 24:00.8
- Braeya Thomas (So. - Port Washington, Wis.) and Marika Kisgen (Sr. - Des Moines, Iowa/Ankeny) rounded out the scoring for UW-Eau Claire. Thomas finished ninth in 24:23.3, and Kisgen was a fraction of a second behind to place 10th in 24:23.6.
- In all, UW-Eau Claire had eight runners finish in the top 20.
UP NEXT
The Blugolds will now prep for the NCAA postseason. It begins with regional action, with UW-Eau Claire slated to compete at the North Regional on Saturday, November 16 in Northfield, Minnesota. Race time is 11 a.m.
