STEVENS POINT, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's cross country team ran to a third-place finish at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships on Saturday at Wisconsin River Golf Club. The Blugolds finished with 79 team points and finished only behind first-place UW-La Crosse and runner-up UW-Stout in the standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Keeley Behr (Jr. - Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) earned All-WIAC honors by finishing sixth individually. She crossed the line in 21:41.3.
- Molly Heidorn (So. - Colfax, Wis.) and Bella Hooker (Fr. - Kewaskum, Wis.) also picked up all-conference honors by placing in the top 14. Heidorn placed 13th in 22:02.3, and Hooker was right behind in 14th at 22:06.3.
- Hooker was named the WIAC Newcomer of the Year for being the highest-finishing newcomer at the conference championship.
- Ryann Wagner (Jr. - Lena, Wis./Gillett) finished 21st overall for the Blugolds. She clocked a time of 22:19.5. Allison Weissinger (Sr. - River Falls, Wis.) took 28th overall in 22:34.1 to round out the scoring for UW-Eau Claire.
- This marked the 10th consecutive season that the UW-Eau Claire women have finished in the top three at the WIAC Champoinship.
- In all, all of the Blugolds' runners finished in the top 70.
