LE SUEUR, Minn. (blugolds.com) — A tremendous final round catapulted Corey Boerner (Sr. - Bloomington, Minn./Bloomington Kennedy) to a victory at the Twin Cities Classic on Monday for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team. Boerner tied a Blugold record with a 66 in the third round to become a co-champion at the 104-player tournament. He shared medalist honors with Bethel's Conor Schubring as the tournament wrapped up at Le Sueur Country Club.

Boerner used one of the best rounds in program history to climb 16 spots up the leaderboard and tie for first place. He carded seven birdies, including five on the back nine. It was enough to get him to even par for the tournament with a three-day score of 214. He and Schubring won the tournament by one stroke.

The Blugolds had two squads competing in the tournament. One finished in third place with a collective score of 883, and the other placed sixth with an 894.

Ben Pausha (So. - Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine) tied for third for the Blugolds. He finished one stroke back of the leaders at 1 over par, finishing with a three-round score of 215. It was the best tournament finish in the sophomore's collegiate career thus far.

A pair of Blugold freshman also earned their best career finishes. Nick Mueller (Fr. - Baldwin, Wis./St. Croix Central) tied for 12th at 6 over par. He had a three-day score of 220. Spencer Lynch (Fr. - Neenah, Wis./St. Mary Catholic) scored a 223 to tie for 19th. Both had their best-ever finish on the leaderboard.

Owen Covey (Jr. - New Richmond, Wis.) tied for 24th at 224. Ryan Jamieson (Fr. - St. Paul, Minn./White Bear Lake) tied for 38th with a 228.

Fred Moede (Jr. - Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) finished in a tie for 48th after carding a 71 on Monday, climbing 28 spots. He finished at 230. Nick Amtmann (Jr. - Nashotah, Wis./Arrowhead) tied for 58th at 232.

Lucas Ladd (Fr. - Mequon, Wis./Homestead) and Carson Brock (Sr. - Onalaska, Wis./Holmen) were both part of a tie for 69th with matching 235s.

UW-Eau Claire is back in action on Oct. 1-2 at the UW-Stout Invite. The tournament will be played at Highlands Course at Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
