MAPLE PLAIN, Minn. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team placed two squads in the top four at the Minnesota Golf Classic on Sunday. One Blugold squad finished third and the other took fourth.
Carson Brock (Sr. - Onalaska, Wis./Holmen) tied for 30th to lead the Blugolds individually. He shot a 219 across three rounds to finish 3 over par for the weekend.
Nick Mueller (Fr. - Baldwin, Wis./St. Croix Central),
Owen Covey (Jr. - New Richmond, Wis.) and
Nick Amtmann (Jr. - Nashotah, Wis./Arrowhead) were all right behind in a tie for 35th. They all finished the tournament at 221, good for 5 over par.
Fred Moede (Jr. - Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) tied for 40th at 222, 6 over par.
Lucas Ladd (Fr. - Mequon, Wis./Homestead) and
Ben Pausha (So. - Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine) both ended in a tie for 59th at 227.
Braeden Resnick (So. - Rice Lake, Wis.) carded a 228 to tie for 67th.
Spencer Lynch (Fr. - Neenah, Wis./St. Mary Catholic) scored a 229 to tie for 71st, and
Corey Boerner (Sr. - Bloomington, Minn./Bloomington Kennedy) tied for 8-th with a 231.
The Blugolds will be back on the course when they host their sole home meet of the season next weekend. The Frank Wrigglesworth Invitational is set for Sept. 17-18 at Eau Claire Golf and Country Club.

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team has two squads in contention after the first round of the Minnesota Golf Classic. The Blugolds' two team entries are tied for second and fourth entering the final round. The field includes several NCAA Division I golfers.
One Blugold team carded a 294 and is tied for second, seven strokes behind the leaders from Bethel (Minn.). The other UW-Eau Claire unit scored a 297 and is tied for fourth.
Carson Brock (Sr. - Onalaska, Wis./Holmen) was the top individual performer for UW-Eau Claire on the first day of the tournament. He shot a 71 to sit at 1 under par and is tied for 14th.
Fred Moede (Jr. - Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) is close behind in a tie for 20th. He carded a 72 and is at even par.
Lucas Ladd (Fr. - Mequon, Wis./Homestead) got off to a strong start to his Blugold career, shooting a 73 to sit in a tie for 30th.
Nick Amtmann (Jr. - Nashotah, Wis./Arrowhead) and
Nick Mueller (Fr. - Baldwin, Wis./St. Croix Central) are both in a tie for 40th with matching 74s.
Owen Covey (Jr. - New Richmond, Wis.) and
Ben Pausha (So. - Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine) are both tied for 50th at 75.
Braeden Resnick (So. - Rice Lake, Wis.) is in a tie for 62nd at 76, and
Corey Boerner (Sr. - Bloomington, Minn./Bloomington Kennedy) is close behind at 77 and in a tie for 70th.
Spencer Lynch (Fr. - Neenah, Wis./St. Mary Catholic) is tied for 94th with an 80.
The tournament concludes on Sunday, Sept. 10, with the second round. Golfers tee off beginning at 8:30 a.m. and will play 36 holes.
