ROCHESTER, Minn. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished in second place at the Rochester Invite on Saturday, capping the three-day meet on a high note. The Blugolds had several event winners at the mid-season meet, which was their final competition of 2023.
The Blugold women had three event winners on Saturday.
Molly Hosack (So. - Cedarburg, Wis.) won the 1,650-yard freestyle,
Ella Weaver (Sr. - McFarland, Wis.) took first in the 200-yard breaststroke, and
Elaina Plonis (Jr. - Macomb, Mich./Eisenhower) prevailed in the 200-yard butterfly. The Blugolds had several more competitors finish in the top eight of their events.
The Blugold men had a pair of winners on the final day of the meet:
Kadin Denner (Jr. - Aurora, Colo.) in the 1,650-yard freestyle, and
Sam Ryf (Sr. - Berlin, Wis.) in the 200-yard butterfly. Several others were in the top eight in their events.

Denner picked up another win for the Blugold men on Friday night, placing first in the 400-yard individual medley. On the women's side, Weaver won the 100-yard breaststroke. The women's 400-yard medley relay team was also victorious.

The Blugold women got a victory from
Hosack in the 500-yard freestyle. They also scored a pair of relay wins, taking first in the 200-yard medley relay and 800-yard freestyle relay.

Zoe Rylander (Sr. - Roseville, Minn./Mounds View) and
Kiara Bissen (Jr. - Madison, Wis./Memorial) placed first in the 200 medley relay. The team of
Sydney McCollor (Sr. - St. Paul, Minn./Irondale),
Grace Schnabl (So. - New Berlin, Wis./Brookfield Central),
Grace Pidde (Sr. - Rockton, Ill./Boylan Catholic) and Hosack won the 800 freestyle relay.
Denner continued his strong season for the Blugold men, placing first in the 500-yard freestyle. The men's team also had a couple of runner-up finishes.
The Blugolds won't compete again until the new year. Their next meet is a home Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual against UW-Whitewater on January 27.
