STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire Blugolds took on the UW-Stevens Point Pointers on Saturday afternoon, falling 1-0 at Ice Hawks Arena.

It was a defensive battle from the start as the score was locked at 0-0 for a majority of the game despite Eau Claire's strong offensive line.

Eau Claire and Stevens Point were neck and neck in offensive plays until halfway through the third, when Stevens Point changed the pace of the game after slipping a power-play goal past Eau Claire's net at 9:20.  

The Blugolds put the pressure on Point's net, but the score was notched at 1-0 for the remainder of the third period.

Paige Turner (Iron River, Wis./ Duluth East) was in goal for the Blugolds this afternoon and saved an impressive 34 shots on goal for the team.

Eau Claire (9-10-4, 2-6-2) faces off against the UW-River Falls (15-4-1, 6-3-0) next Saturday at 2 p.m.
