RIVER FALLS, Wis. (Blugolds.com)-The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team faced the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Falcons on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Falcons, 62-71.

After two WIAC wins earlier this week, the Blugolds hit the road to face UW-River Falls (3-0 WIAC). UW-Eau Claire couldn't seem to stop River Falls in the first period, as they fell behind within the first few minutes of play. The Blugolds trailed by 12 going into halftime.
Despite their deficit at half time, Eau Claire fought back in the third quarter. A series of layups and free throws put the Blugolds within three points, with 2:57 left in the third. Unfortunately, the Falcons continued to hit key shots, and Eau Claire lacked an answer to pull ahead in the fourth period.
The game's leading scorer was River Falls' Brynn Liljander, with 21 points on the night. Madison Johnson (Sr.-Osceola, WI/Osceola) led the Blugolds, with 20 points and nine rebounds. Erin O'Toole (So.-Plymouth, MN/Hopkins) and Arien Becker (Jr.-Hayward, WI/Hayward) also pitched in 13 and 10 points, respectively.
The Blugolds (7-8, 2-2 WIAC) will be back in Zorn Arena for their Team Night/Shoot For A Cure on Wednesday, Jan. 20th. They will be hosting UW-Platteville at 7:00 pm.
