EAU CLAIRE, WIS. (Blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Women's soccer team fell in a 1-0 defeat to No. 18-ranked Wheaton College Wednesday night at Bollinger field.

Eau Claire had a tough time getting anything going in the first half. The Blugolds struggled to maintain and advance the ball into Thunder territory, which resulted in the Blugolds only getting one shot on goal.

Just before halftime sounded, the Thunder took advantage of a short goalie kick and advanced into Blugold territory. The first shot was blocked, the next hit the post, and the third Thunder shot found the back of the net to give Wheaton the lead.

The Blugolds came out in the second half hungry to tie up the game. Eau Claire brought their best effort and fired six shots, but were unable to find the back of the net.

Emily Byal (Jr.-Eagle, WI/Palmyra Eagle) had a great day in the net saving eight shots for Eau Claire. Junior Jocelyn Etten (Jr.-Elkhorn, WI/Elkhorn Area) led the way for the Blugolds with two shots on goal.

This Saturday the Blugolds will travel to take on the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater, game starts at 1:00.
