COLFAX, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The No. 24-ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's cross country team hosted the Blugold Invitational at Whitetail Golf Course on Friday with the Blugolds coming away with a third place finish.

The field included 17 teams, including three other ranked teams, No. 16 UW-La Crosse, No. 22 St. Olaf and No. 26 Luther College. In addition to ranked Division III teams the meet also including NCAA Division I University of Minnesota, Division II Michigan Tech and Lakehead University, a Canadian team out of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
UW-La Crosse won the meet with 74 points, St. Olaf was second with 83 points, UW-Eau Claire was third with 93 points and the University of Minnesota was fourth with 103 points.
Lucy Ramquist (Sr.-River Falls, WI) had a fantastic day for the Blugolds, taking first place in the field of over 300 runners with a 6K time of 22:17. Ramquist ran a patient race staying tucked in the lead pack for the first half and breaking away from the field during the final 800 meters to win by over 10 seconds.
Clara Williamson (Sr.-Skokie, IL) and Katryna Williams (Sr.-Watertown, WI) also had impressive performances placing 10th and 13th, respectively, with times of 22:51 and 23:00. The Blugold underclassmen also had a strong performance with six freshmen and sophomores finishing in Eau Claire's top 10.
Rounding out the top ten runners for the Blugolds were: Callie Fischer (So.-Ashwaubenon, WI)-33rd, 23:30; Rebecca Whipple (So.-Madison, WI/West)-51st, 23:44; Morgan Marek (Fr.-Muskego,WI)-55th, 23:55; Lexie Tremble (Fr.-Muskego)-56th, 23:56; Karen Gomez (Fr.-Chatfield, MN)-57th, 23:58; Mel Becker (Jr.-Osseo, WI)-58th, 23:59 and Lian Arzbecker (So.-Pewaukee)-68th, 24:09.
The women will take this upcoming weekend off from competition in preparation for the UW-Oshkosh AAE Pre-National Meet on Saturday, October 17th at Lake Breeze Golf Course near Winneconne, WI.
