Men's Golf Tied for 26th at NCAA Championship

HERSHEY, Pa. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team is tied for 26th place out of 37 teams after round one of the NCAA Division III Championship at Hershey Country Club.

Skidmore College currently holds the lead with 295 strokes (+7) while Franklin & Marshall is in second with 298. Otterbein College is in third place with 300 strokes. The Blugolds shot 327 today.

Leading the Blugolds was Ryan Grip (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./East) with 79 strokes (+8). He is tied for 78th place in the 189-golfer field.

Tim McCormick (Fr.-Madison, Wis./Memorial) and Loren Churness (Jr.-Durand, Wis.) are tied for 104th place with 81 strokes while Jimmy Hutchings (So.-Hudson, Wis.) shot 86 today, tied for 158th. With 90 strokes was Ben Ziemann (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial), tied for 182nd place.

Tomorrow the 37 teams will be back for the second day of competition. After tomorrow's round, the field will be cut to the top 23 teams, which will advance to compete in round three and four, Thursday and Friday.
