Men's Golf Takes Second at Edgewood Invite

MIDDLETON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team took second place out of four teams at the Edgewood College Spring Invitational at Bishops Bay Country Club today.

The Blugolds finished with 305 strokes while UW-Stout won the tournament with 297. Edgewood took third with 313 strokes and the Milwaukee School of Engineering had 325 to finish fourth.

Loren Churness (Jr.-Durand, Wis.) led the Blugolds with 73 strokes (+1) as he took second place overall. The second place finish was his best of the season and was the fourth time he finished fifth or better.

Tying for eighth were Jamie Krula (So.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi) and Tim McCormick (Fr.-Madison, Wis./Memorial) with 77 strokes. Jake Brookshaw (So.-River Falls, Wis.), Jimmy Hutchings (So.-Hudson, Wis.) and Ben Ziemann (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) all finished tied for 11th with 78 strokes while Ryan Grip (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./East) had 81, tying for 17th.

The Blugolds will now wait to see if they earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
