Women's Hockey Loses in Final Minutes at Superior

Box Score

SUPERIOR, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team fell just short in its regular season finale to UW-Superior in the closing minutes at Wessman Arena today.

After more than 56 minutes of scoreless play, UW-Superior's Jodi Holland found the back of the Blugolds' net at 16:17 in the third period to help secure the 1-0 Yellowjacket win.

The shutout was the first the Blugolds' have suffered this year. The last time they were shutout was in the final game last season, a 4-0 loss against Lake Forest College (Ill.) in the NCHA playoffs.

Eau Claire had a tough time getting the offense going, finishing with just 11 shots, the second fewest in a game this season. They had a season low of nine last night.

Danika Porter (Jr.-Rosemount, Minn./South St. Paul) played all but 46 seconds between the pipes for Eau Claire and stopped 30 shots while allowing one goal.

The Blugolds will now face UW-River Falls in the NCHA Quarterfinals next weekend. Action will get underway Friday in River Falls at 7:05 p.m. while Saturday's game will start at 2:05 p.m.
