Men's Golf Tied for 12th at Frank Wrigglesworth Invite

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team is currently tied for 12th place after round one of the 14-team 2009 Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invite at the Eau Claire Country Club.

The Blugolds' first team shot 321 while the second team finished with 305 and is in second place. St. John's University (Minn.) leads the way with 302 strokes while the University of Manitoba is in third with 306.

Jamie Krula (So.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi) led the Blugolds' second team and the entire field of 79-golfers with 70 strokes (-1). St. John's Ben Vangsness is in second after shooting an even 71.

Ryan Grip (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./East) led the first team with 79 strokes, tied for 30th place, while Ben Ziemann (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Tim McCormick (Fr.-Madison, Wis./Memorial) are tied for 42nd after shooting 80.

Loren Churness (Jr.-Durand, Wis.) finished with 82 and is tied for 57th while Alex Kroeger (Sr.-Onalaska, Wis.) is tied for 72nd with 86.

The Blugolds' fall invite will conclude tomorrow at Eau Claire Country Club. Golfers will begin teeing off at 8:30 a.m.
