Men's Golf Places Second at St. John's Fall Invitational

SARTELL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team placed second out of 20 teams at St. John's University's Fall Invitational this weekend.

St. John's University (Minn.) won the tournament with 596 strokes over 36 holes. UW-Eau Claire finished with a total of 607 strokes in the two-day tournament.

Dennis Granath of St. John's won individual honors with 145 strokes, shooting one over par for the tournament.

Leading the Blugolds overall was Tim McCormick (Fr.-Madison, Wis./Memorial), who finished tied for seventh overall with 150 strokes. Loren Churness (Jr.-Durand, Wis.) and Ryan Grip (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./East) tied for 17th place with 155 and Jimmy Hutchings (So.-Hudson, Wis.) tied for 23rd with 156 strokes. Alex Kroeger (Sr.-Onalaska, Wis.) rounded out the top five for the Blugolds, tying for 50th and shooting 161 for the weekend.

The Blugolds host the Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Collegiate Invitational in Eau Claire next Sunday and Monday.
