MIDDLETON, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's golfers finished in second place today at the 2009 Edgewood College Spring Invitational held at the Bishops Bay Country Club.
The Blugolds ended the day with a score of 304, falling to leader UW-Stout, which finished with a score of 300. The Milwaukee School of Engineering finished in third with a score of 308 while host Edgewood finished in last with a score of 322.
Individually, the Blugolds' Loren Churness (So.-Durand, Wis.) won medalist honors as he finished with a stroke count of 70, two under par.
Jimmy Hutchings (Fr.-Hudson, Wis.) tied for sixth place on the day with a stroke count of 76.
The Blugolds' Ryan Grip (So.-Wausau, Wis./East), K.R. Rucker (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Ben Ziemann (Jr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) all finished with the same stroke count of 79, tying for 11th place overall.
Andy Dercks (So.-Clintonville, Wis.) tied for 21st overall with a score of 84.
Monday (May 4) the NCAA will announce if the Blugolds are selected to the NCAA Division III Championships, which will be contested May 13-16 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
