DE PERE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - With St. Norbert College opening the game strong, the UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team was unable to recover and fell 75-49 at Schuldes Sports Center tonight.

The Green Knights (3-0) hit a three-pointer over a minute into the game to take the initial lead and never looked back. They scored on 12 of their first 13 attempts from the field to jump out to a 34-6 lead.

However, the Blugolds (0-2) did their best to get back into the game as they went on an 18-9 run as the Green Knights missed their next 10 field-goal attempts. Eau Claire got as close as 14 points with just over two minutes left in the first half, but St. Norbert went on a 5-0 run after that to take a 19-0 lead into halftime.

The Blugolds were unable to get anything going in the second half and were only able to get as close as 19 the rest of the way. St. Norbert got up by as much as 27 points in the second before winning by 26.

Eau Claire shot 42.5 percent from the floor (17-for-40) while St. Norbert was 47.1 percent (24-for-51). The Green Knights hit six three-pointers in 12 attempts while the Blugolds had just one in four attempts. The Blugolds outrebounded the Green Knights 29-27.

Hannah Mesick (Jr.-Chatfield, Minn.) once again played well with a game-high 24 points while she almost reached a double-double with a game-high nine rebounds as well. Sarah Bingea (Fr.-Delano, Minn.) added eight points for the Blugolds.

Up next, the Blugolds will host their annual Thanksgiving Showcase on Friday and Saturday. Carleton College will face the University of Dubuque at 6 p.m. while Eau Claire will take on Northwestern College at 8 p.m. Action will finish up Saturday with two more games.
