Box Score SUPERIOR, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - After tying 15th-ranked UW-Superior last night 2-2, the UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team lost 3-0 to the Yellowjackets tonight at Wessman Arena.
The loss drops the Blugolds (2-4-2 overall) to sixth in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association with a record of 0-2-2. The Yellowjackets climbed to fifth place with the win over the Blugolds, getting their first win in conference play.
UW-Superior took advantage of their six power-play opportunities on the night and scored on three of them. The first came in the first period at 10:42 from Chris Wilson. The second period yielded the last two goals of the game from Superior, coming at 8:47 and 16:09 from Logan Isley and Wilson, respectively.
Superior outshot Eau Claire on the night 25-22, while also racking up more penalties than the Blugolds, 14-11. The Blugolds had eight power-play opportunities on the night, but could not capitalize on them as the Yellowjackets did.
Tyler Brigl (Sr.-Eagan, Minn./Eastview) defended the Blugold net for the entire night, allowing three goals and recording 22 saves.
The Blugolds' next match will be in St. Paul, Minn., next Tuesday (Nov. 24) as they take on Hamline University. The puck is set to drop at 7 p.m.
