Box Score EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - After defeating UW-Superior on Wednesday 14-0, the UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team continued its winning streak, now seven games, with a 2-0 victory against UW-La Crosse today at the Bollinger Fields.
The Blugolds' Shyla Gilbertson (Fr.-Waunakee, Wis.) scored both goals on the day, with the first coming at 4:31 with the assist from Sam Krueger (Sr.-Elkhorn, Wis.) and the second coming at 23:50 with the assist from Jamie Schiesel (Jr.-Plymouth, Minn./Armstrong). Gilbertson leads the Blugolds with nine goals on the season.
The Blugolds ended the game with 19 shots to the Eagles' five, with 10 of the Blugolds' shots being on-goal while the Eagles finished with two.
The Eagles' goalkeeper Sagan Pizzingrilli recorded eight saves while she allowed two goals. Eau Claire's Emily Kidd (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) defended the Blugold net for 90 minutes, picking up two saves and allowing no goals.
Eau Claire is now 8-2-1 overall and 5-0-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). La Crosse falls to 2-7-1 on the season and 1-4-0 in the WIAC. Eau Claire is now 16-3-3 all-time against the La Crosse and have won the last seven straight meetings, dating back to 2004.
The Blugolds will be on the road for the next four games, beginning with Wednesday's match-up against St. Olaf College (Minn.). The game is set to start at 4 p.m.
