Women's Cross Country Wins Home Meet

LAKE WISSOTA, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team edged UW-La Crosse by one in the Blugolds' Lake Wissota Meet today.

Running through two inches of wet, heavy snow, the Blugolds finished with 32 points while the Eagles recorded 33. St. Thomas took third with 70 and UW-Stout finished with 100 in fourth place. Three UW-River Falls' runners also competed at the meet.

Molly Woodford (Jr.-Waukesha, Wis./South) finished the 5K course in second place out of 58 runners to lead Eau Claire with a time of 19:43.

Nicole Blahnik (Fr.-Antigo, Wis.) took third and finished with a time of 20:01 while Ashlyn Mauer (Fr.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) was fourth with a time of 20:04.

The Blugolds' fourth finisher was Charissa Drake (So.-Orfordville, Wis./Parkview) in 11th place with a time of 20:30. Michaela Miller (Fr.-Holmen, Wis.) and Shelby Berning (Fr.-Chetek, Wis.) finished 12th and 13th respectively with a time of 20:31.

Next Saturday the Blugolds will travel to the WIAC Championship in Whitewater. Action will get underway at noon.
