Soccer Falls to Unbeaten Cobbers

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team suffered its third straight loss, falling to Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) 4-0 at the Bollinger Fields today.

The loss gives the Blugolds a record of 8-6-2 on the season. The 14th-ranked Cobbers improve to 14-0-0 on the year with the win against the Blugolds.

Concordia-Moorhead's Killashandra Link scored the first goal of the game against Eau Claire at 9:23. Sam Johnson scored again for the Cobbers at the 13-minute mark while Sarah Rounds put the third goal on the board for Concordia-Moorhead at 39:25. In the second half, Sam Johnson scored her second goal of the game and her 17th of the year at 66:17 to give the Cobbers the 4-0 victory.

The Blugolds recorded 11 shots, six of which were on-goal, while the Cobbers only managed six, five being on-goal. Concordia-Moorhead committed six fouls to Eau Claire's three while the Blugolds took two corner kicks to the Cobbers' one.

Blugold goalie Cameron Stoeger (So.-Milwaukee, Wis./Brown Deer) played 45 minutes, picking up a save and allowing three goals. In the second half, Emily Kidd (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) defended the Blugold net, picking up no saves and allowing one goal.

The Blugolds will pack their bags and head to Oshkosh to face WIAC opponent UW-Oshkosh next Saturday to finish off the conference season. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m.
