Women's Soccer Defeated by Wartburg in Double Overtime

WAVERLY, Iowa (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team held Wartburg College (Iowa) scoreless for nearly 110 minutes, but the Knights managed to score in double overtime to defeat the Blugolds 1-0 in Sunday's matchup.

The undefeated Wartburg squad (13-0-1) recorded 15 shots on goal in the game, while Eau Claire was only able to get off 8. The Blugolds collected five corner kicks to the Knights' four and eight penalties to Wartburg's 10.

Emily Kidd (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) was in the net for the entire 107 minutes for the Blugolds and recorded seven saves in the game. Wartburg's Chelsea Frye scored her sixth goal of the season at the 107:51 mark to end the game.

The Blugolds (8-4-2) head to Stevens Point for a conference matchup with the Pointers on Oct. 17. The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
