RAMSEY, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team took 18th place out of 23 teams with 313 strokes at the 2009 Gustavus Adolphus Twin Cities Classic at The Links at Northfork today.
The tournament was originally scheduled to be a 54-hole tournament on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, but Saturday's round was cancelled due to snow and cold and the tournament has been called after today's round.
St. John's University (Minn.) won the tournament with 289 strokes while Illinois Wesleyan University took second with 291. Concordia-St. Paul finished with 293 strokes to take third overall.
The tournament ended with nine players in first place with 70 strokes on the par-72 course.
Leading Eau Claire today was Ryan Grip (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./East), who finished with 74 strokes to tie for 20th.
Loren Churness (Jr.-Durand, Wis.) tied for 54th with 77 strokes while Jake Brookshaw (So.-River Falls, Wis.) tied for 87th with 80.
Also competing for Eau Claire were Jimmy Hutchings (So.-Hudson, Wis.) and Tim McCormick (Fr.-Madison, Wis./Memorial). Both finished with 82 strokes, tying for 99th place.
Eau Claire will now take the winter off and will be back in action next spring. The Blugolds will kick off the spring season by hosting an invite April 15.
