Box Score WHITEWATER, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team played through two overtimes to end with a 1-1 tie at UW-Whitewater today.
The game started quickly as the Warhawks found the back of the Blugold net at 1:29. The Blugolds swiftly responded with an unassisted goal from Lisa Marco (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) at 6:18 to tie the game at 1-1. Both teams fought for the second and winning goal until the final whistle blew at the end of the second overtime to end the game with a score of 1-1.
Eau Claire ended the game out-shooting Whitewater 24-17, while also out-doing the Warhawks in corner kicks, 8-7.
Emily Kidd (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) was in the net for 110 minutes and picked up nine saves while allowing one goal. J. Piasecki played the entire game as well for the Warhawks, picking up two saves and allowing one goal.
The Blugolds are now 8-3-2 overall with a 5-0-1 record in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletics Conference. The Warhawks are now 6-5-1 overall while holding a 2-2-1 record in the WIAC. In the all-time battle between Eau Claire and Whitewater, Eau Claire holds the winning record of 17-2-2. The last tie between the two teams occurred in 2004.
Eau Claire will strap up their cleats again against Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa tomorrow. The game is set to begin at 3 p.m.
