WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. - After the three-day Twin Cities Classic, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College, the UW-Eau Claire men's golf team finished in sixth place out of 23 teams with 910 strokes. Today's round was played at White Bear Yacht Club.
Illinois Wesleyan held on to first place, winning with 870 strokes. The Titans had the best final round today with 291 strokes. St. John's University finished in second with 874. Central College, Luther College and UW-Stout found themselves in third with 894 strokes.
Central College's Andy Petersen was the individual medalist. His scores of 68, 74 and 72 today combined for a total of 214 (two under par).
Jake Brookshaw (Fr.-River Falls, Wis.) led the Blugolds to their sixth place finish, tying for 27th overall with 226 strokes. Ryan Grip (So.-Wausau, Wis./East) ended the classic tied for 32nd after totaling 228. Loren Churness (So.-Durand, Wis.) and K.R. Rucker (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) both finished tied for 35th with 229 strokes, while Adam Eggebrecht (Jr.-Abbotsford, Wis./Colby) shot 237 to tie for 71st overall.
The Blugolds will compete in their finial tournament of the fall next weekend. On Sunday Eau Claire will head to La Crosse for the Ronnie Eastman Invitational, hosted by Viterbo University. The invite will conclude on Monday.
