Box Score LA CROSSE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire soccer team improved to 3-0-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 8-0-2 overall, after defeating UW-La Crosse with two second-half goals by Liz Kooistra (Sr. -Lakeville, Minn.) today.
The score remained 0-0 until 65:05 when Kooistra found the net to put the Blugolds on the board. Rachel Nerison (Fr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) assisted on the goal. Kooistra then put the game out of reach for the Eagles, scoring her second goal of the contest with less than two minutes to go to make the score 2-0. The assist went to Amy Smith (Sr.-Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson).
The Blugolds, ranked fourth in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Top 25 poll, have now defeated the Eagles in their last six meetings. Eau Claire is now 18-3-3 against La Crosse all-time.
Allie Rivard (Sr.-Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) played the entire afternoon at goalkeeper for Eau Claire. She recorded two saves, as the Blugolds outshot the Eagles 33-8. Of the Blugolds' 33 shots, 14 were on-goal.
Tomorrow the Blugolds will be back on the field, taking on Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. The game is set for 2 p.m.
